Grew up in Hershey, went to college in Kearney. Now I live in Fort Collins (10 years) and will be moving to upstate NY, hopefully by summer.

I grew up in Ericson, NE, which is a tiny town located roughly 1 hour north of Grand Island. I have lived in Lincoln for approximately 10 years and will soon be moving to Omaha.

Hey Kosnebbear,

There already is an Embassy Suites in downtown Lincoln and the inside looks nearly identical to the picture stargazer posted.

When I'm home (I'm at college at the moment) its this tiny place(you cant even really call it a city) but its Agnew, about 15 miles N of Lincoln. It's between Raymond and Valparaiso.

Born and raised in SE La, been in the very extreme SE corner of Ne for 13 years.
About 200 or less pop. Nothing like sitting on your front porch on a summer evening with a glass of wine watching the corn grow across the highway. That is after spending 6-9 months of the year working and living in cities across the US.

I grew up in Hastings and am currently back home for the summer. I attend college at Creighton in Omaha.

I love Hastings. I was excited to go to college, to the big city, where all the exciting things happen, but after 3 years in Omaha, I missed Hastings. I looked forward to a summer at home. I missed the trees overhanging and shading the streets, I missed people at corners who would let you cut in ahead of them. I missed children waving at you as you drove by and I missed being able to take a walk after 7pm without having to carry pepper spray.

I think that small towns get a lot of bad wrap, and in a previous forum, individuals accused small town populations of being rude but I think that is a generalization that needs to be challenged.

Growing up in Ericson, did you happen to know or know of a woman with the last name of Scot? She would have lived in or near Ericson in the early 50's.
Thanks for your time,
LAMosher

LAMosher,

As you know probably know...Ericson is unbelievably small. Scot though doesn't ring a bell. However, I am only 31, so its possible she or her family has moved on. Did you spend time in Ericson?
