How do you like living in Broken Bow? Thinking of moving there from California.

Thumbs up Red Cloud

Hi everyone!

I live in Red Cloud in south central Nebraska, 60 miles south of Grand Island on U.S. Highway 281 (crossing Scenic Byway, the Heritage Highway, U.S. Highway 136) AND we are north of the KS-NE state line (6 miles). Approximately 18 miles south of Red Cloud in Kansas is the Geographic Center of the contiguous 48 states.

I grew up in Beaver City, NE, which is in southwest Nebraska.

I have been overseas for 25+ years, living and working in Sweden, England, Australia and China.

A small town like Red Cloud is great! Lots of history to relive...lots of culture at the restored Red Cloud Opera House...lots of wide open spaces along the Republican River.

My husband and I were both born and raised in Lincoln.
We're thinking about relocating after he graduates college. Though, we have NO idea where to.
He's getting his BS in computer science, so we have to live in or close to a city that has a good computer industry.
Being a city girl, the "small town life" has always appealed to me. I know nothing about living in them however and I'm not 100% positive I would like it.

I've read all the posts on this subject and am wondering where are all my Ashland people???? I grew up there and Omaha, have also lived in Blair, between 1978 and 1998. Now after moving to Missouri (what fun..) we now live in Tennessee. It's so beautiful here and I love it, but I will always be a Nebraskan at heart.

Default Cambridge!

We just bought the farm so to speak yesterday, and now live on a 5 acre place 3 miles north of Cambridge. Cambridge is along the Republican River in southwestern Nebraska for those unfamiliar with it.

We're brand new to this area, to living in the country, and we're getting started turning an old farm house into our dream home. Our blog will keep a pretty good record of our transformation from city slicker to a rural country lifestyle, and you can follow a major home renovation too.

This place really caught our eye, and our blog is detailing our move and transformation.
