If anyone knows? A track laborer with Union Pacific has a starting hourly pay of $17.40. Does anyone know what it tops out at and how long it takes to get there?

I don't know anything personally, but I have heard its a great company to work for. Hard work though. UP is really big here with the HQ in Omaha and Bailey Yard in North Platte.

There are openings for track laborers in nearby Omaha in Freemont.

It's good pay. I'm just curious to know how much you can make in that position.

I was talking with an engineer from UP in Wyoming back in June. While we did not discuss salaries, he told me that if you are ambitious, there are a lot of opportunities for advancement.

He started out as a ticket taker on one of the UP lines (METRA) in the Chicago area and applied to engineer school and has been with teh railroad for 15+ years. Do realize that UP is hiring all over the midwest including Chicago and Omaha.
