Default potential relocation...

Company may be relocating hubby. We are in late 30's with elementary aged kids. So we need good schools. Right now we live in a suburb of a large city and that has been just fine. We live near good schools, a mall, shopping centers, several grocery stores, parks, coffee places, kid-sized entertainment. We'd like a newer home not older than 5 years or a new build, in a master planned community with community ammenities and an elementary would be ideal. I stay home with the kiddos right now but may look into returning to work in an IT related area.

Thanks for your advice.....

Sounds like west Omaha is for you. Lots of the things you described. Places in Sarpy County (county south of Omaha with suburban cities) would work also. If you want a little smaller city, you could check out the south part of Lincoln. However if you husband has to travel, Omaha is going to offer more flights than Lincoln.

I would say for west Omaha stay west of 132nd St and you would have a wide selection of the newer homes you would like. The Millard and Elkhorn school districts cover most of west Omaha and are terrific districts. There are lots of metro members on this board and they can give you more specific answers.

If you would consider Lincoln, Fallbrook would be the ideal place for you. They are building a new school in the Fallbrook community, and it is right off of I-80 and I-180/US34. The only drawback would be that flights are more cheaper out of Omaha than Lincoln, which would make it a 50min commute to Epply Airport! The link for Fallbrook is: Fallbrook—Lincoln, Nebraska’s premier residential and commercial neighborhood.
