Pink & Blue House in David City, NE?
When I was little, my folks drove us to Columbus from Lincoln often to visit relatives, and we took the route that went through David City. Every time we went through, my parents would make sure I was awake and attentive as we passed my favorite house in the universe, a house I dubbed "The Pink and Blue House."
We rarely stopped in David City, so I'm assuming we were on the highway (4th Street) when I'd see the house. I always thought it looked like a dollhouse. It had a turret and was painted pink and blue.
I should mention that I was born in 1974 and we traveled by the house all through the 70s and 80s, so it's very likely the paint has been changed.
Any info on this house's history, current condition, and particularly any photographs of the house would be so greatly appreciated. Someday, I'd like to build that house and live happily ever after in it.
Thanks in advance.

I think I know the house you are speaking of. I have relatives that live there, I will see what I can find out for you.

It's still there and yes, it's on the highway through town.
My grandparents lived in David City until Grandma died a couple years ago. It was always my favorite house, too.
I'm drawing a blank at the moment, but I have this idea that it's been repainted gray...
It's still in lovely condition, but i sure don't know the history or anything on it...

Oh Yeah, David City, NE it is one of favorite towns in the state.
I love driving through town right before Christmas. Everone decorates their homes, make you feel like your in a Norman Rockwell/Terry Redlin painting.

Thank you for quick responses, everyone! I'm still trying to find information about the house online and from someone I've met who grew up there. Fred, happen to know the cross-street for the house? I've been looking on Google Maps' satellite pictures, but have to guess at it by the shadows and rooftops. I so badly want a photo to stare at. I feel a daytrip coming on...

4th & H street should be pretty close if we are thinking of the same house or could be I street also. I should have a photo for you here within a week or so. I do believe it has been painted also since the last time you saw the home.

I think you're talking about the same house I saw on a recent RFD-TV repeat of the old CBS Sunday Morning series, "Postcards from Nebraska" This segment was about a master violin and cello maker from David City, David Wiebe http://violoncello.com/about/index.html He's since moved to Woodstock, NY,.
Anyway, to see the house, go to Google and click on maps, type in David City, then drag the little orange man at the top left corner to N4th Street. A street view will appear. You can then drag up to H Street to see a view of the house and surrounding neighborhood.
You can do this with many cities and small towns I hope this helps

Ok, I tried it. The picture moved. You have to, first - wait for the street map to clear and the street map to arrive. Once that happens, you simply drag on the arrows to a view of the house!
