I don't see where the church comes into marriage legally. I know many people who have just gone to a courthouse or had a party for their wedding without needing some sort of religious ceremony.

Obama supporters are not necessarily pro-gay or anti-Christian, so there is no credibility in that comparison. Obviously many Christians had to vote for Obama.
Actually, the percentage of Christians in the US is 81% (survey data), so I was pretty close:
WikiAnswers - How many Christians are there in the USA
Now, of course, not all of those Christians follow the same standards, are at different points in their faith walk, etc, but you are still painting an entire population with a bold brush. Some Christian faiths hate homosexuals, most denounce the lifestyle/sin but love the person, and a few are OK with homosexuality.
If a heterosexual were to refer to all homosexuals by a stereotype, you'd scream foul. Well, that's what we're doing here with your stereotyping and insulting of Christians.
Again, if you want to garner support for your cause, you had better try to enlist the support of 81% (probably a higher percentage in Nebraska) of the population, rather than insult them and foster an "us vs. them" battle.

As i've indicated before, they're churches that will marry gays. WHich is a strong contention for make the issuance of marriage licenses to gay couples legal. They're Christian religions which will marry gay couples.

Then don't shove YOURS on ME. You cannot tell me that I'm shoving MY PERSONAL definition of marriage onto you without being a hypocrite. You may not force your way of life onto others, but you certainly force your opinions upon them.

The topic is specific to Nebrska legislation, its more than just topical its a huge issue and it should discussed. That's our Freedon of Speech at work.

Yeah...actually you are being a hypocrite. You whine about not wanting to be told how to live...then you're the one wanting to change the already existing definition of marriage.
So..yeah....you're the one pushing your beliefs.

I think you're the one pushing your beliefs. To guys getting married will not effect you, yet you won't allow to happen. Who's forcing their beliefs on who? I think its you.

I would like to share some really insane beliefs myself because what I have to say is so weird that it would make you run to the crapper from making doodoo after reading this. I have no love for relationships for woman nor am I a gay person. I have distaste for relationships and wish it would be done with and do away with forever but I guess I can't have that. To much divorce and backstabbing exists in this mudball of our great planet. Everything is for profit and gain when nothing is for integrity, empathy and love. I see firsthand the loneliness kids have to deal with because mommy or pappy is not happy in their reliationships. They don't care about the feelings of the children that have to grow up with only one parent. Hell, lets have a new mommy or a new daddy. That should make it all okay for the little ones. As far as churches go, it has deluded many and made others poorer by the greed of the pastures wanting more. I can't go into a church any more without somebody selling me something in the grounds of the church. Where is Jesus' temper when we need it. As far as gays, they are one of the most if not most kind and gentle people I have ever met. Most of them don't prounce around with too much ego and don't flaunt around their manliness of machomadness attitude. Enough said for now and back to our normal regular schedule debates and normal human conversations *laughs to himself*

This thread will never die, because the fight for gay rights will never die. Get used to it.

What if I want to marry my sibling? Or a father wants to marry his daughter? Or a grandfather wants to marry his granddaughter? Where do you draw the line?
