It's interesting how often your seething hatred comes to the surface, and bubbles over into your posts.

The fundamentals behind Hate Crimes Legislation are flawed, and it's high time to completely do away with it.
HCL automatically assumes that some crimes are worse than others, simply because of who did it or who was the victim. It is anti-equality, anti-blind justice and unnecessarily complicates the judicial system.

So are you going to vote in favor of gay marriage when its on the ballot again or not?

They are just another way to combat racism, sexism and homophobia where applicable. I would say someone who robbed a person becuase they needed to eat is a less danger to society than someone who robbed someone because of their race, sex or sexual orientation.

Well hopefully... this country will except the fact that a million different kinds of people live in it... eh. Just yesterday I learned that im a minority, yes... even though im straight and my skin is pale... being vegan is only 2% of the population.

This has nothing to do with hate crimes legislation, and is totally irrelevant.

This thread is about repealing Nebraska's hate legislation, aka the Nebraska ban on gay marriage, gay civil unions and gay domestic partnerships. As well as the exclusion of sexual orientation in Nebraska's dscrimination protection laws.

And that is intentionally discriminatory - which is exactly my point.
Do you want hate-crimes legislation to be enacted/enforced if (because of a possible majority vote) it actually goes against homosexuals?
Do you want it to be a WORSE crime to murder a heterosexual than a homosexual? Do you want terroristic threats against heterosexuals prosecuted more seriously than the same threats against homosexuals?
In other words, do you want equality, or preferential treatment?

They are not the same thing, sorry. And the fact that a gay person tries to say they are does not mean it's true.

To whoever it was wondering about the specifics of the legislation it is worded and interpreted that even 2 men who are business partners can't have dealings with each other. The last I knew this was struck down or at least changed becuase the bill went way futher than planned, much like the safe haven laws.
