Default the sandhills

I just wanted to show some love for the sandhills. It is probably my favorite part off the state (besides Omaha of course). My dad and I used to go fishing up there in the spring, and i just fell in love with the place. Well, heres my sandhills love

I'll go one better:
I particularly like the "big" hills around Ellsworth, Lakeside, etc. And the Sandhills lakes area...

Fishing at merrit was the best. I caught some awesome walleyes out of there. I loved watching the massive thunderstorms roll in. What a great place!

Merrit is a nice place for sure. Love to go there, spend a little time camping, fishing, hitting the trails in the sandhills. If you get out that way again, try the refuge lakes to the south and east of Merrit. You will enjoy these natural sand hills lakes and surrounding scenery.

Default Merritt is great

The fishing reports from the past year make Merritt one of the best fisheries in Nebraska. Hoping to spend at least 10 days there this coming summer. Received the report from the owner of the Lodge and store there and they are more excited than ever before.

Anyone know if they ever got any of the lots on the hill across the dam sold?

It's been years since I was in the sand hills, but it's a very attractive area, in a kind of frontier, western sort of way. I also enjoyed fishing for Northern Pike in some of those lakes near Valentine. And canoeing the Niobrara in the fall was pretty spectacular.
