Last summer, I drove Highway 20 from Sioux City to Chadron and really enjoyed the scenery, the Sandhills, and the small towns. I've also done Highway 2 from near Scottsbluff to Broken Bow.

One interesting diversion was Carhenge near Alliance. Watch out though, there was a 6 foot rattlesnake hanging out in the grass between the parking lot and the sculptures and we nearly stepped right on it.

I agree with Monty 870, Carhenge is a very interesting place to visit if you are out in that area. It is definately different, but everyone in my group (ages 18 to 50) enjoyed themselves there-I mean, who wouldn't want to see a bunch of old cars set up like stonehenge They also have a nice little gift shop there. Another fun thing to do is the Oregon Trail Wagon Train Dinner near Chimney Rock, where you get to ride in a covered wagon, eat a chuckwagon dinner and then sit around the campfire and sing songs. I would also stop at Lake McConaughy near Ogallala if you have time.

I would add Fort Hartsuff, near Ord, if you like historical things.
