The difference in NPlatte and Kearney elevation is only around 600 feet, the two areas aren't much different.
NPlatte 2700
Kearney 2100

My husband grew up in Appleton WI. His folks live on the north end of Lake Winnebago. I grew up in Grand Island. To me, the humidity in WI is much higher than in NE. Omaha and Council Bluffs are humid compared to Kearney but not so much when compared to Milwaukee in August. Even up on the lake it's more humid than Kearney.
We live in Miami right now and I'm used to the humidity here. When I visit NE I take tons of extra strength moisturizer because the dryness makes my skin hurt.

The humidity can be worse..
Trust me on this, Nebraska has about an average amount of humidity on the east side of the state and very below average on the west side of the state..
The highest dew points in Nebraska that I have seen were like 74 degree dew points and even at that it is rare to surpass 70 degree DP..
Our average dew point in the summer is 55 degrees, a far cry from the worst states like in the south and southeast..
There are many states in the nation that rarely get below that..
Only, here in Nebraska we really know how to use the humidity the right way! (Severe weather conditions)..

It's not unusual to have 80 to 90% humidity here in NY during the summer. 50-60% would be quite a pleasure for me!

There is a reason it gets so humid because of the corn venting during the summer. The dew points is what contributes to that. The average dew point where i live is usually around 70 which is like living in a jungle. Its not the humidity that makes it bad its the dew points, come on people get it right!!! Do some research and look it up. If you watch the weather during the summer do they show humidity maps, NO!!! they show the dew points which is how much moisture is in the atmosphere not the humidity. You people say you live in Nebraska well you apparently don't watch the weather. Why don't you try some time.

All of you probably don't live on a farm so you don't know what I'm talking about. If you work a day on a farm in the hot sun and high dew points you will beg to go back to Wisconsin. Wisconsin is close to Canada which is closer to the north pole get it through your spongy peanut sized of a brain. I live south of Columbus,NE in an area that is surrounded by corn, not in some big city where there is no CORN.

okay, now that you got that off of your chest..
They were asking if Kearney is humid, and Kearney is not a humid city..
as a matter of fact according to this: http://www.climatesource.com/us/fact_sheets/td_us.gif
Kearney is in the dark green/light blue border area that signifies that it has well below average dew points.

Have you been out in an Iowa corn field before? The dewpoint was about 78F in July.
I thought the majority of corn grown in central and western NE was irrigated!
