Default Was there a town called Purcell in Nebraska?

Found a bottle inscribed Baird's Rexall Drugstore, Purcell Neb. Would love to know where that town was and why it is no longer listed in Nebraska towns. Anyone know its history? Thanks!

Google sure hasn't heard of it, and neither have I.

I found this article referring to Purcell, Nebraska but it's an obvious typo (it should be Purcell, Oklahoma since I-35 does not run through Nebraska):

Quote:
Driver of tractor-trailer truck killed after Nebraska truck accident
63-year-old man was unable to avoid hitting slowed tractor-trailer truck in front of him
08/07/08

On June 25, 2008, a 63-year-old tractor-trailer truck driver was killed in a truck accident on Interstate 35 in Purcell, Nebraska. The truck driver attempted to avoid hitting another truck that had slowed while near a construction zone, but was unable to stop.

The truck hit three tractor-trailer trucks before coming to a stop in a ditch. The impact of the tractor-trailer truck accident ejected the driver from the front of his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the commercial truck accident.

A 12-year-old passenger in the man’s tractor-trailer truck was treated for minor injuries and released. The other drivers involved in the truck accident were not injured.

This has me going, it seems I have passed this now extinct town in my travels across the state. Might help if you were to give the location of where you found the bottle.

I just looked over a 1918 & 1930 Nebraska State map and cannot find it. Not sure but town I may of been thinking of is Purdam.

The bottle found its way out of state and was offered as a "vintage" item. I'm wondering if the bottle was inscribed in error and should have been Purcell OK. Thanks to all for the replies. One of the folks on the State of Nebraska "Ask a Librarian" site could not find a Purcell township on current or historical lists so I'm afraid this will remain a mystery. Rexall didn't exist as a brand until after 1902 so the town name should show up somewhere if it existed in, say the 20s or 30s even as a Post Office. Hmmm, I wonder if Rexall keeps a list of all their franchises.....

Purdam is still a town!!
it's in Blaine county, northwest of Brewster. Home of the only bank in the county if I'm not mistaken...

I seem to remember seeing pictures of a CB&Q railroad depot with the name Purcell on it. I will check a copy of the Official Guide to the Railroads from 1930 if there is any mention of it.
