Should we kick Omaha out of Nebraska ?
Would the rest of Nebraska be better off if Omaha split off and became part of Iowa? Sure, Omaha has a great zoo and several decent shopping malls, but what else does it have to offer for the rest of the state? Once Omaha is given the boot, Nebraska could reroute the Missouri River to the west side of Omaha to insulate the rest of the state from the crime and stench of the Big O. (/jk on the river idea—or am I?)

Big city might hate the cornfields, the farms might hate the smog and crime, but at the end of the day, we're all husker fans. And that overrides any disagreement no matter how large.

I would be all for Omaha seceding from Nebraska. Nebraska is just way to conservative for their own logic. I would also agree the progressive atmosphere and sophistication of people in Omaha have very little in common with the small town folk.
Lol, this is a stupid conversation.

Or, if you dislike Omaha so much, just don't go over there. Omaha is such a great city. With a population of 500,000 and a metro population of around 840,000+, crime is going to happen.

I'm from a small town originally, and believe me, crime happens there also. People just tend to get away with it.

If Omaha goes you lose a ton of non-farm employment. 80-85% of all people in Nebraska live in a metropolitan or micropolitan county.

Yep. I don't see Lincoln's economy being enough to support the state without Omaha.

I'd rather see central and western Nebraska become Wyoming or South Dakota.
This the shows the animosity that can occur between rural and metro Nebraska. Real stupid and I would say that for the vast majority of Nebraskan's there really isn't the rivarly. The fact of the matter is we need each other.

Both sides would be hurt without each other, no matter what anyone says.
