If you are not an arch-conservative then I can see why you would think Omaha is "liberal", BUT compared to the rest of the country Omaha is fairly conservative. I think it is nice to know people of different mindsets, but that is probably "liberal" wacky talk. By the way Omaha is not "scary," and 98% of the neighborhoods are wonderful, may not be mansion acreages or cookie cutter neighborhoods but the people are great.

I believe there was an article in "The Onion" a few years back that was about a person from North Platte to scared to travel to Omaha and there was a picture of downtown Omaha in which the caption read "The intimadating Omaha skyline" which showed 3 buildings. Funny stuff.

Right Dave. I-80 does not give Omaha justice. Drive on Cuming Street, 90th, Dodge, Happy Hollow, N. 38th street, ect. 80 only shows L Street and L is pretty much all industrialized buildings. It's even worse in Lincoln where you can barely see any of the city.

Oh, for crying out loud! Leave this poor, befuddled guy alone. You have all of Omaha--he won't hurt ya'. Why don't you guys pick on some surgeon at St. Francis Hospital in GI..or maybe, some professor at UNK...or, maybe a UNL graduate, now farming?............... Oh, of course, this is much easier......................

If you have an M.D. or D.O. after your name or if you are certified to teach Math or Science, and you are looking for a practice or position, in a small Nebraska town, post it and I will get in touch w/you. The very, nice towns in this area are almost always underserved in these areas.

I hesitate to name the towns sans the City Development Corp. or the school Supt. behind me, but I would put you together ASAP if such a thing interested you and you could verify the proper credentials.

Default May be Relocating to Lincoln, Ne, what are some nice areas to live in?

My husband may get located to Lincoln, we would like to live somewhere 30 miles or so from Lincoln. What are some of the best areas to live in? We have a 14 year old and a 6 year old, so a family neighborhood or town would be nice. Of course a safe neighborhood, so my kids can play outside safely. An area where homes prices are good, $150K-$180.00. Any ideas? Also good schools are a must. I have been looking a bit at Seward Nebr.

Thanks for any advice.

I fail to see the satire in that article.

True. It is. But, you and I both know some people like this guy, out here. And, sure enough, if urbanites are driving through, he is whom they encounter....just like the bag ladies and skid row bums that I step over, in the cities.

Don't we all tire of discrimination???????????

salliek - There's quite a few within 30 miles. How big (or small) are you looking for?
Waverly, Hickman, Crete, Seward, Ashland, and a BUNCH of others are all good places to live.
