Default Western NE Mountain questions

Are there any mountains and forests within moderate driving distance from...say, the Scottsbluff area? I have looked on maps, and have heard people mention "mountains" nearby in Wyoming, but am just not sure. I really enjoy camping, hiking, and fly-fishing. So, any advice is welcomed.

Ya. The Rockies run through Colorado and Wyoming, which are a few hours from Scottsbluff. Just check out the map. Scottsbluff is very near the border between Wyoming and Nebraska.

Around Crawford Nebraska (1.5 hrs west of scottsbluff - a small town in the panhandle ) there are lots of places to hike, camp and fish. There aren't exactly mountains there but 'buttes' and they are great for hiking. Ft Robinson is an area outside of town that has ample camping spots and a river for fishing. And then right across the border in South Dakota are the Black Hills (1 hr away from crawford).

P.S. I reread your post and you said 'flyfishing' probably one of the better places for that is the poudre river outside of Ft collins CO. FC is about a 2hr drive from scottsbluff.
