I am looking for an attorney that can give me some advise on an insurance check. My roof was damaged in June 2008 and State Farm made the check out to me and my mortgage co Midland Mortgage, Midland would not sign it over to me until I jump thru hoops, they wanted contractors license, contractors insurance info and bunch of other things, well the contractors would not give me any of this info until I signed a contract with them and paid a 2000.00 which I didnt have. Now my house has gone into foreclosure and is being sold AS IS at a public auction on 9/2/09. My question is once it is sold why cant the check be made out to me. I paid the PMI on it so the mortgage co is not going to lose any money. I need someones help ASAP. You can contact me at my email address at bestfr1303@cox.net.

Patty

Probably not a good idea to throw your E-mail around on a message board.

If you never fixed your roof with the insurance money - what makes you think you are "entitled" to it? You weren't asked to "jump through hoops" you were asked to work through the process so the insurance company avoids fraud - This is why our insurance premiums are high!

If I'm wrong, I apologize - but if I'm right...shame on you.
