Alliance and Scottsbluff severe weather?
What is the severe weather like in those two cities? My girlfriend says she has been talking to some family out there and has admitted she has thought about moving there[She has an aunt in Alliance and her Grandmother is in Scottsbluff somewhere/around that area] and naturally i'd want to go with, but I will admit I do have a phobia of severe weather[I.E No pics, or videos for me] I've read other threads about the same thing, but what are my odds of encountering severe weather in those cities? From the maps and stats i've read it seems most severe weather is actually in the eastern part of the state plus Kansas/Oklahoma etc. or the dry line is over the western half, T-Storms form and then move east. Would I see the weather for long or would it just blow away rather quickly? I'm mostly speaking of tornadoes [Of all sizes and strengths], T-Storms[Supercell or not], and maybe even a Derecho.
I know someone is going to ask, we are currently in the San Francisco Bay Area, Newark to be exact.

I don't live there, but have been to the area several times. I have also researched this exact subject when I was potentially transferring there (Scottsbluff) with my job. This is what I have concluded from stats and asking around.
Western Nebraska is not as prone as Central or Eastern Nebraska, especially to major tornadoes rated EF3 or higher. Scotts Bluff county does have a rather high number of past tornadoes compared to every other county out that way, but it seems these tornadoes are usually on the weak side and not on the ground very long, often doing no damage or impacting anyone at all. The city of Scottsbluff was slightly clipped on the NW side by one in July 1993. They do get thunderstorms that do not produce tornadoes, but sometimes hail. A lot of the days will be sunny almost the entire time, and then a storm will build up in the late afternoon. It will rain for 30 minutes and the sun will come out again. The three main months for severe weather are May, June, and July. April and August to a lesser extent. Outside of those months, it appears tornadoes are very rare in almost any part of the state.
