Default High-End Communities Between Lincoln/Omaha?

We are considering relocating to NE and are totally unfamiliar with the area. My husband would work in Lincoln, but there are some schools I think I would prefer to send my children to in Omaha (Catholic, all-boys high schools), and I think there are more programs in Omaha for their particular extracurricular interests. Is it common for people to live between Lincoln and Omaha, and if so, in what communities? What would the commute times to the two cities be like during rush hour? What are the nicest communities that we should look at? We can afford a high-end neighborhood. Thanks for any advice.

Amy

Gretna seems to be heading that direction (high-end). It is hard to find homes for sale there, but worth a try.

As far as commute times, that would vary greatly depending on where exactly you are going in each city. You could be at the Omaha city limits on I-80 in 15 minutes, 30 to Lincoln. But once you travel into those cities, times will add up.

Ironhorse in Ashland is pretty high end. Located on prestegous golf course, not too sure about Ashland itself. You would stay on hwy 6 into Gretna and then hit west Omaha and Elkhorn, in a couple of mins.

This is probably the best suggestion.

the second alternative would be Papillion & Gretna are not a bad commute to Lincoln as its on the far southern edge of the Omaha metro...
