TwoSticks is on a distinguished road
Sandhills Arabians, regarding Oshkosh, was wondering where you got the information about the "small growth spurt" you mentioned was coming.

From what?

Will be impossible in the Sandhills... no Walmart's in a hours drive... may need to go 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on where you are...

For the OP (if she's still looking) and anyone else:
As as Sandhills cowboy's wife, I'll share my list of job searches.
Keeping in mind, unless he's experienced in working on actual ranches (not farms with a few head of cattle!) you're probably going to have to work for a jerk or two before you get a good job. But, you might get lucky right out of the gate.
Watch the ads for a while as there are some guys in there with standing job listings. ...Because they go through that much help. lol
Free housing & utilities are standard. Nice, but of course that means you're going to be homeless if you lose your job.
Pay is substandard.

Most towns in the Sandhills (where you're going to find ranch jobs, that is) are going to be really small. Ie, a couple hundred if you're lucky.
Most horse people in this part of the world do their own trimming. Many of us do not shoe because there's no reason for it. But there are those who hire shoers, they're just harder to find. (Especially since you can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone who "does a little shoeing on the side". Just be patient.
