Any info on Atkinson or surrounding areas
My husband just found out that he will be sent to AtkinsonNE to work this summer. We are from Louisiana and KNOW NOTHING about the town, etc...any info would be greatly appreciated. We have 3 children ages 14, 12 and 8. We will need a rental house but I couldnt find anything??? What is the closest bigger city? are the public schools good? weather? thanks in advance!!!!  |

I am orginally from Nebraska, and will be moving back to O'Neill, which is about 15 minutes from Atkinson. They both have very nice public schools, as most public schools are, it is a very small town, but the basic amenities are there. I have had friend who went to high school there and my wife has family there. It will be a great place to have kids, very Mayberry town USA. There are several other towns such as O'Neill, and Stuart that would also be a close commute, O'Neill is a little bigger, I am moving there to be the orthopedic surgeon. We could have moved anywhere, but the schools, friendly people, and family enviroment attracted us. Talk to the local realitors such as earleyrealestate.com and they could help you find a rental, or contact the local paper (it comes once a week) the holt county independent. Housing is very very cheap

the 4 radio stations you can hear in Atkinson are
KMNE 90.3 FM of Bassett, NE
KBRX 102.9 FM of O'neill, NE
KGRD 105.3 FM of Orchard, NE
KBRX 1350 AM of O'neill, NE
Atkinson also has a Subway Restaurant and a number of local Restaurants

Hey, I know several people from Atkinson. It's a teeny tiny town and they love to rodeo! Walmart...no...closest one is..hmmmm; Norfolk maybe? Valentine?

Is it only for the summer? It will be hot and humid, but not as hot as you are used to. |

Per the Walmart web site the closest are in Norfolk about 85 miles, Grand Island, Yankton SD and Mitchall SD. |
