If you Google "Nebraska Department of Roads web cams" you will be sent to a website that has fifty or more cameras located around Nebraska. Most of them update every 15 seconds. Pretty handy when checking road conditions.

Um... er... it WOULD be but they are installing a new server and most of the cameras for North Central Nebraska are out. We are 40 miles west of Valentine and got a steady snow from 2 AM Thursday through last night - but most of it blew south with a steady 20-30 mph North wind. The roads weren't even occluded til this AM. My friend in Valentine reported that they got NO snow up until 6 pm last night - just rain. Sheridan County and points west, however - Merriman, Gordon, Chadron etc - reportedly got a lot of snow; driving conditions were so bad with the blowing snow that folks wouldn't drive outside of town. One friend swears that she got 16 inches on her ranch south of us! We just have an inch or so of crust on the ground.

Conditions in Colorado's NE corner are pretty brutal as well. Interstate 76 coming up to Interstate 80 has been closed, looked at FOX 31 this morning says that area of northeast Colorado and southwest Nebraska is still pretty brutal. You folks take care up there, this is one of the strongest October storms I've seen in a long, long time.

Has the making of a long winter for sure. Lots of dark catepillars in the woods this wall, not a good sign if you believe those sorts of things.

Yup you are right SCGranny. I just checked and about half the cameras are off line being updated. Here is a link if anyone is interested.
