Default What kind of place is Schuyler, NE?

We are considering buying a home there and would like some insight into the folks there. Also as you see by my user name, we are a large family, are there others there? What about Churches? We live in Missouri Valley IA currently.

Thanks for your time!

I'll preface this by saying I haven't actually lived there. However, my grandma lived in nearby David City for many years.

Personally, I think Schuyler is getting downright seedy. I'm sure there are still perfectly nice areas, people, churches, etc. But it's not the neat little town it was 20 years ago...

I have heard there are alot of illegal immigrants there, that doesn't really bother me unless they bring in a criminal element. Do you know if thats the case?

Thanks for your help!

Schuyler is not the town it was 20 years ago, whether that's good or bad. I grew up 20 minutes from schuyler and my parents are still 20 minutes away. It has changed in that there are now a lot of spanish-speaking residents and they are hiring many teachers to teach english as a second language. and I think the wonderful pizza hut may now be gone, too.

We had family there a few years back. The city has lost so many businesses in the last few years for sure. If I had other options for a move or purchasing a home I would consider them.

Might want to also consider in that area David City (pop 3K), North Bend (pop 1700), Columbus (30K?).
