I am tired of all the people that quote a website or say i have a friend who went broke do to this.
Maybe they should file bankruptcy and keep their farm or search for other monitary assistance of which there no shortage of.

I have seen where some people claim that 18,000 people a year die from no health care? Then why does the government not intervene and support these people instead of fineing everyone who does not want the government in their lives that is called socialism or communism which is not what this country is about.
There is not a hospital in this country that has not had a death. In many places, the VA care is much better than what is available in community hospitals. I can vouch for that, as a nurse.

german71, at 15 you may not have been aware of the source of the funds that helped your family. Just sayin'.

Any time our government tries to intervene with our lives they just makes things worse because they are incompetant trash. I hope more and more Americans are figuring out that we want smaller government and more freedom. Everything Obama has tried to do is a failure. Our unemployment rate is still ridiculously high and the national and state debts along with government spending is more than out of control. I sincerely hope this health care bill is repealed with next year's congress.

Just reported:

(CNN) -- A Missouri VA hospital is under fire because it may have exposed more than 1,800 veterans to life-threatening diseases such as hepatitis and HIV.

After T.A.R.P., Katrina, the stimulus debacle, the gulf oil spill, the illegal immigration mess, and the above news report... is there anyone that truly believes the federal government can administer and run the nations health care system - promising better access (services) and lower costs? Really?

They seem to run Tricare - the military's insurance - perfectly well.

And yes, I DO believe they can do it. If we leave prices and coverage up to big businesses, we will be screwed in the end.
My husband and I barely make enough as it is - the increase in costs is killing us.

That's enough!! I require nuts who bash the word, government, to state which dept. and which individual screwed them over.

When you say, "...government tries to intervene with our lives..incompetent trash...", do you mean Olive Terwilliger who works as a clerk in the Dept. of Roads (God forbid she have a job that feeds her husband and 3 kids) or do you mean the 3rd grade teacher at Broken Bow, Nebraska, or do you mean Joe Merchantschild who just got onto the State Patrol, perhaps to be the first responder when your child has an accident. WTH do you mean by government? Oh yeah, you're picturing Senator Career in a hammock while you garner your own form of entitlements.

Give it up.

Just reported today by AP (Certainly not a conservative bastion nor is CNN with yesterdays report)

CHICAGO – Emergency rooms, the only choice for patients who can't find care elsewhere, may grow even more crowded with longer wait times under the nation's new health law.

There's already a shortage of front-line family physicians in some places and experts think that will get worse.

_People without insurance aren't the ones filling up the nation's emergency rooms. Far from it. The uninsured are no more likely to use ERs than people with private insurance, perhaps because they're wary of huge bills.

_The biggest users of emergency rooms by far are Medicaid recipients. And the new health insurance law will increase their ranks by about 16 million. Medicaid is the state and federal program for low-income families and the disabled. And many family doctors limit the number of Medicaid patients they take because of low government reimbursements.

I could add a big "DUH" here. Anyone with an ounce of economic sense knew this, but it certainly didn't get reported until after the bill was passed.

I appreciate your honesty aerahrtlu. If you remember, the politicians told us this bill would make health care more accessible for everyone and at the same time reduce our health care costs. Now the mainstream media is finally reporting (after the bill passed) that in fact, many experts predict an actual reduction in access, which is something I've predicted all along.

As far as costs go, perhaps you can explain to me how you think this bill will specifically reduce "your" health care costs.

This video is a perfect example of government run social programs (Department of Education).

To you aerahrtlu and all who support the governmental takeover of the health care system please watch this video. After watching please explain your confidence in the efficiency of government run social programs.

I don't know where you get that they run tri care alright. Maybe you should read the threads on the military site here on city data. And as you know, there is tremedous corruption in medicaid.

Have you ever had your computer hacked? Wait until all of our medical records are online. And if there is 1 error or a number transposed you well pay he11 to get it fixed.

I agree healthcare is too high but this will increase our costs. And it will be handled by the IRS?? Does that even SOUND right?

Sometimes different isn't always better. Thought we all learned that in the last election.

Where do people keep getting this idea that the new healthcare laws will be handled by the IRS, anyway?

Is this some sort of elaborate game of Telephone?
People read that the IRS will be the enforcement of the new tax rules and somehow confuse that with administration of the entire program?
