I'm an OLD friend of a guy that got killed in a train accident back in 1989. His name was Steve Guthrie. I hadn't seen him since appproximately 1976 and when I talked to his dad in 1993, he informed me of the news. I was wondering if anyone had any info on this accident? I was saddened to hear that it had happened. I new his family when they lived in El Cajon (San Diego) CA, and he moved to Alliance, NE and got married prior to the accident.

Please feel free to email me directly or post if you have any info on this. I now live in Lake Havasu, AZ with my husband but had some friends recently ask me if I knew any details of this death and I told them I did not. It got me thinking about it and made me even more curious. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I would recommend calling the local newspaper. They probably have someone that can search the archives and give a quick response. Good luck

I thought about that too, but because it was so long ago, they may tell me to contact the library! Since I'm not local, that could be difficult! I might give it a try though! Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your responses.. I did contact the Star Herald and they do not keep old papers. They told me to contact the library in that they have "readers" who may be able to help me. I would like to know what happened, but at this point, I'm not sure if I want to pursue a 20 year old accident. it was the curiousity that got me. And the the inquiries from my friends as well, I'll have to think about wasting the libraries time! Thanks again for everyone's help!!!

HI Ember.

The post you replied to is nearly two years old, so there is a chance that the original poster has come and gone from this board. Looking at his history, he hasn't posted to this board for nearly a year and a half.

He might come back and see the message, but sadly, you may not get a reply from him.
