We would like to go camping this weekend and would really like to stay away from the crouds. No offense to R.Vers but we also don't want to be the only tent in a line of R.V's.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry it's after the weekend but Lake McConaughey is my favorite lake in Nebraska. Yes the water is low, this is actually a good thing in my book. Because it's a drive to the water from the campgrounds there is virtually no one in them especially RV's. You can camp in the trees basically by yourselves and drive down to the water which is great because there's no underbrush in the shallows like there would normally be in the bays. It's just gorgeous clean sand and clear water, it's a great way to spend the afternoon. Martin's bay in my opinion is the best place to camp.

We went camping at Harlan County Lake when I was growing, it has a good mixture of camper's and tents from what I remember back then anyway. But, while the beaches are sand, the swimming area is mud and rocks, yuck.

Wink What is your favorite tent camping place in Nebraska?

Well in our area it'd have to be Grove Lake near Royal Nebraska. It's a laid back place for camping and there are always tent campers there. Place to fish and walk. Get there early if your serious about it, it's a popular place.

Keller State Park in the Ainsworth Area is worth the drive. Nice camping sites, good hiking at the park and a few miles away to the east at a State WMA.

If you go there, take the time to drive over to Meadville and visit the local hang out.
