Hey all.

I am a 26yr old single male moving from Scottsdale AZ to Elko.
Moving up there without knowing any one so I need to get some advice from anyone who lives in that area. Things like, what to expect weather wise, best apartments to live in, is there a nightlife, and really any other info would much appreciated. I'm pretty excited to get out of the city for a bit and I cant wait.

Thanks again

As to the weather, it's cold, sometimes very cold and it snows a little in the winter. In the summer, it's in the 80's and 90's with low humidity. As to nightlife, there isn't much but there are bars and casinos and even legal brothels

Elko is great if you like outdoor activities. There are the Ruby Mountains nearby HIKING THE RUBY MOUNTAINS and the Ruby Marsh or Lake Ruby Lake NWR, Fish and Wildlife Service. Hunting and fishing are big in the Elko area.

As for apartments, that's going to be difficult. People working for the mining companies which is booming now take up most everything. You can look at the ads in the Elko Nevada News. There are no big apartment complexes that I know of in town.
