Maybe so, but life was much simpler back then. Entitlements, Social Security in particular, was in it's infancy. It had approx 42 workers for each beneficiary in 1945 and was solvent. Today, there are only three workers for every beneficiary. Source: Social Security Administration. You do the math. Medicare did not exist, neither did lavish public sector retirement plans. Try cutting any of those, specifically SEIU pensions and benefits, and you will see riots in the streets like in Europe.

Then there's the cost of ObamaCare, which has not even kicked in yet. Unless, of course, you're unfortunate enough to work for a company like Boeing (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101018/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_costs_boeing - broken link). Others will follow.

We simply cannot afford to become an entitlement society. It's not working in Europe and it won't work here.

Those who think we are on the road to ruin? Keep buying Beck's gold. PT Barnum was right.
You mean those like George Soros?

did you notice your Federal income tax went down under Obama?

Bet you didn't, but it did.
Yes, along with the value of my home while unemployment continues to rise. In fairness, I realize he didn't create the housing problem, but he's not helping it either. Back to taxes.... what are they going to be come 2011? No one knows, but everything is pointing towards them going up.... WAY UP... for everyone! That is if you're fortunate enough to have a job.

The only reason the teabaggers are in the spotlight is because they can whine much better than the Democrats can explain.

Heck, I think it would be funny, in a tragic way if the teabaggers took control of the country, It would be a train wreck worth watching, almost
You may get your wish. Even if the "tea baggers" gain control of Congress, nothing substantial will get done because of Obama's veto. He will blame them for lack of progress. He should look at himself and realize that it is/was his agenda that caused the Dems to lose control of one or both chambers of Congress, not some group of right-wing whack jobs.

Apologies to scirocco22 if you feel this has strayed too far off being focused on NV. I'll stop here. mod cut:

mod interpose: Yes, TC, I think this thread has run its course for the local forum. If the conversation can be picked up in the P&OC forum, we'd appreciate it. Although we like to give locals a bit of latitude in discussing local politics, we have to remember that the local forums really should try to be focused on topics related to relocation issues, visitor information, and answering inquiries from those new relocated to the area. Thanks for everybody's participation in this thread. Closed. --'r
