The statement about democrats and obama /clintons ..Your Quote."We have Democrats, believe it or not. Barack Obama came here to speak during the primaries, as did both the Clintons and they all packed in huge crowds.
Where did you get the thought that this is what I was looking for to add this to the equation of moving to Pahrump?
Your claiming that people mention the negatives of Pahrump and you say that all places have them ..Why ??I say did you bring up this Nagative of obama and the clintons visiting Pahrump for?

I didn't interpret ronnieramone's comment of Pahrump having Democrats as a negative. Nor did I thing that his/her saying that Obama or Clinton visiting was a negative. I think he/she was just trying to point out that Pahrump is not as "wild west, rural and rough, or redneck" as it once was or as many try to describe it. Yes, there are a lot of Republicans here and most places rural are much of the time classified as conservative.

I just think that ronnieramone was attempting to point out that Pahrump has much more to offer now than just a rednecked, conservative, cowboy-type town that has nothing but Republicans residing here.

I would like to know, however, where the teppanyaki restaurant is!

If you really are a partisan Democrat I am not sure that Pahrump is the right place for you.

I would describe it as highly libertarian first and formost. Those who won't moved to Pahrump. It has a strong cowboy flavor and a bit of redneck.

I would also agree that it is a nice place to live or to raise children. I think it has aspirations to being rural rather than fact. That is why it continues to vote down incorporating. Does not want to admit being a small city.

hello scirrocco 22 how ya doing ?
Heres the way I see it ,,,I like cowboying ( my wife came from a ranch ) and I like rednicks ( I am one somewhat) and also a rural living (lived in the country all my life). and I can go along with some of what libertarians believe as long as it is not Libertarian socialism..

If I had of ask for political preferences then it would of been worth while to me as a answer..I didnt and we all know why obama and clinton was in Pahrump ,,To Get Votes for Reid, Sorry if I affended anyone ,,didnt mean too / just my 2 cents worth it. Maybe It's because I not a fan of either of them ... You ask,,If you really are a partisan Democrat,,nope guess not.. LOL

hey ,, did you get my PM I sent you a month ago ?

"Partisan Democrat?" ...show me where I said that. I usually tend to be more conservative in my political views. Just because I was against Sharon Angle doesn't mean I'm a partisan democrat. And this ain't about me. I'm stuck and didn't not really choose Pahrump ...it sort of chose me ...long story.

The point I wanted to make is that Pahrump is changing. I don't believe it's as rednecked and cowboy as it once was and I thought the post by ronnieramone was nice rebuttal to the constant stigma of how "rednecked and cowboy" Pahrump is.

mod cut:
I just want to urge readers, as always, to read all opinions here and form your own. Everybody thinks their opinion is the truth when actually the truth probably lies somewhere in between.

Hi Oregon Trail ...no, I didn't get a message from you but I get so much going though my inbox here, sometimes I miss stuff. I'll take a look and get back to you.

Oregon Trail,

I definitely think it is "negative" to say that everyone out here is the same. They are NOT. There are people of different races, with different political views, who eat different foods, listen to different music, and so on.

To lump everyone who lives here in as a conservative redneck is to oversimplify the nature of this community. If you prefer the stereotype to the reality, then you will probably be significantly disappointed the first time you encounter a black person, emo kid, immigrant, homosexual, or (gasp!) democrat living on your block. Sure, the majority may well be what people have come to expect from Pahrump, but it is by no means the only type of person who lives here.

Olecapt made an excellent point in that almost everything is permissible in Pahrump, and that may include your neighbors doing things that you may not particularly care for. You are going to have to be able to deal with that if you are going to make it out here.

Uh oh, I'm a liberal Democrat, gay, Jewish, don't own a gun AND live in Pahrump. Except for seeing all the Sharron Angle signs (seriously, liberal or conservative votin', the woman was just plain nuts), I'm perfectly happy here. My neck is lily white, I don't own any cowboy boots, don't drink, don't smoke, and only run my meth lab on alternate months. Okay, I lied about the meth lab. I'm terrified of fire and chemicals, so no meth lab for me.

Anyway, Pahrump does have some of us *****, pro-choice, foreigner lovin' (I live with an ex-illegal alien), atheist Democrats, just like there are right-wing folks in San Francisco. However, no matter how you vote, people are people. And so far, I've found that the people in Pahrump are really nice...even the ones who have probably figured out that I'm not a right-wing redneck. I don't hold their religion/politics against them, they don't hold mine against me. I love my neighborhood, the peace & quiet, the gorgeous mountain views, and the starry night skies. Plus, Vegas is close when I need a library that has more books than I do or a store that isn't Walmart or Home Depot. Once a month to Vegas is enough to keep me in library books and my kitty litter that isn't sold in Pahrump.
