I'm 26, currently in Seattle right now, but I'm thinking of doing a short 2-3 month stay in a sunnier area.

I'm also self employed and work on the internet, so I do not care about jobs, just somewhere warm.

Requirements:
1) Can get a furnished studio or 1 br for under $800
2) close to hiking/outdoors
3) low crime
4) not completely out in the boonies.

I'm looking at boulder city right now, how is that place?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I think Mesquite may be a good option, though I don't know about the rent. Close to Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon NPs, 35 miles to St. George and 75 to Vegas.

Check out Laughlin on the Colorado River and across the river from Bullhead City, AZ

Laughlin, Nevada - It's Like You Own the Place - VisitLaughlin.Com

About 100 miles south of Vegas but has a bit warmer weather in the winter. Some water activities on the river. I go there most every winter!

Laughlin/Bullhead looks good, pretty close to 2 major parks (meade and death valley).

Though, I think I might be going to China for a few month instead this winter.
