That was Unionville he was talking about.

Also check out Paradise Valley about 40 miles north of Winnemucca. The area is very green with hay and alfalfa farming and lots of trees. The town probably has 30 people in it. There is a bar/small grocery store and a post office and that's it. The nearest gas station is 20 miles away. Thank-you. I was earlier where U'ville was mentioned, but I didn't know what it was.
What is a reasonable price for an acre of land in that area?

Klondike Canyon near Unionville. It's all desert and not green like the Buena Vista canyon where Unionville is. Nearest store/gas station/restaurant is the TA truckstop on I-80 at Mill City. They also have a casino and bar with sometimes live entertainment TravelCenters of America | The one stop for all your travel needs | Mill City Travel Center #181

I could not tell you what an acre would go for, I can tell you that we have a couple lots in a near ghost town somewhere in Northern Nevada, the market price for the 1/4 acre lots is $11-14,000

I meant to write that I saw earlier not was earlier where U'ville was mentioned. Pardon me.
Unionville seems too small for what I would want. I want access to a big city but I don't want to live there; so Winnie seems the better choice for me. 11k- 14k per quarter acre is too rich for my blood. Unless I win the lottery north of Winnie is a place for me. Thanks to both of you.

Winnemucca doesn't really have access to a big city, no more so that Uville. Remember one thing, don't buy on the flats, buy in a canyon, the right canyon.

In the settled areas of west Nevada a 1/4 acre lot could set you back $100,000 or more.

Good luck..

What I was implying is that of the 2, Winnie would be considered the big city. The city where I was raised has a pop. of over 247,000, and it's not the biggest/most populated city in the state. That's why 40 acres of your own land can seem so inviting. I may not have the best, but if I can use it every once in a while; who's better than me? Rhetorical
$100,000 a 1/4 acre shuts my mouth.

I thought about your wish for a shooting range. Many Nevada communities ban shooting in "Congested Areas". You will want to check that. Chances are someone will be down range from you, they may have a concern, even if you bulldozed a berm.

$100,000 is pretty cheap by CA standards. Lots in the little seacoast town I live in run $300,000 and up for a 1/4 acre lot.

40 acres sounds great, if it was timber and meadows, that would be cool. Alkalai flat and scrub brush where you can see you neighbor a half mile away.. does not thrill me.

Check out Midas, NV I like that area. It has a great restaurant.

I was hoping to hear more posts concerning my own shooting range, but I've seen videos and possibly there is a legit one in Winnie.
I think that we have a different frame of reference concerning where we feel comfortable dwelling. My neighbors are only 15' or less from me on both sides. Seeing that they are 1/4 a mile away from me would be nice.

I assume you're talking about a canyon that is green and has trees (and therefore water) such as the canyon Unionville is in. This is not going to happen. The green places are already taken up and if some land was available, it would be expensive. I think the OP will have settle for the flat land.

To the OP, why do you need a target range on your own property. You can just go most anywhere out in the middle of the desert and shoot off a gun or rifle.
