Art Towns in NV?
I am interested in relocating from NJ to NV, NM,AZ, or northern CA.
Would anyone know of any artist communities in NV that are less expensive than Santa Fe ,but have good weather ?
thanks.

It is hard to think of anything resembling an art community,, Downtown Reno, Riverside lofts, but it still a state of Wranglers and Carhartts and Chevys and Fords with lots of rifles.. Pioche is a town waiting for a rebirth,, but the locals are really really local.

I would, but if your lifestyle resembles alternative,,, like Irie,,, you will be happier in Reno or Tahoe. Rural Nevada is still pretty conservative,, heavily mormon

I second the recommendation for Reno/Tahoe. The smaller towns have much less to offer in terms of arts IMHO and as previously stated are not very progressive thinking (if that's what you're after). Not sure about prices..the housing prices are quite high in this region, but still a bargain compared to much of California.

Most folks in Nevada can't SPELL art, much less understand or encourage it. Granted, Reno has a decent art museum and some art community (a friend of mine's a painter there, and he chafes at the small number of people with cultural interests).
For a decent art town, try Arcata or Eureka, CA. The weather isn't great (it rains a good deal), but it doesn't rain ALL the time and it never gets too hot or cold. Also, if you like a bit of bohemian culture, it's the place.

Oddly, one of the finest small art museums in the West is in Reno. The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City and the Bartley Ranch stage in Reno put on extremely good concerts. The Reno Opera has long been considered one of the top ten operas in America.
The of Reno maintains low cost housing and gallery space for artists in an old caisno downttown.
Arttown, a summer long art festival is nationally known for excellence

Las Vegas has bits of everything, but you have to dig to find it. It isn't an artist's community by any stretch of the imagination, though I have been happy to slowly discover there are cultural events and local artists.
