Unhappy North Valley/Sun Valley?

So, I'm actually here in Reno/Sparks looking for a place to live.

I know and have heard horrible things about SunValley, but is North Valley considered the same area?

I found a really updated (ontheinside) condos right off of N.McCarren and El Rancho right around the corner from that Northtowne Plaza with the HomeDepot, Petco and all. Its on Wedekind and El Rancho. It doesn't look too unsafe, but it seems to be RIGHTrightright on the edge.

Its the MountainMeadowsCondos. their website is mmcondos.com. ANY HELP FROM RENO DWELLERS?

There is nothing wrong with SV. It used to be kind of raunchy, but now it's mostly retired and working people. Affordable living

I get really tired of people beating it up, when they know nothing about it, except some old rumors.

Well, that is not quite true. There are many highly disfunctional people there. Lots of drinking and other drugs. An evening in any of the bars along Sun Valley Blvd is illuminating.
Lots of ex inmates, and lots of families with sons or fathers in prison.

A wander through, looking at the numbers of hugely overweight women, a visit to the schools and looking at the teeth of many of the kids sadly and badly in need of orthodontia is very interesting.

On the whole the community is composed of hispanics on the way up, buying homes and doing well, and whites on the way down.

Default Is it SV?

So, either way...

Is the area I described North Valley or Sun Valley, and if it is Sun Valley is it on the outskirts? Is that Northtowne Plaza area (Walmart,HomeDepotPetcoWincoPetsupermarket) a bad area. You take the N.Mcarren Blvd. Exit, and then turn right, the place I'm talking about is right around the corner of this plaza.

North Valleys is everything from McCarren north, but, there are great differences. Don't live around Northtowne, Wedekind, El Rancho.

Hang out in any bar and you will find trash.

The area you are asking about used to be okay. I hear it is filling up with hispanics. If you don't care, then okay.

And, there are lots of overweight women all over the place. Been to any of the malls lately?

Seems to me, most of the crime is in Reno/Sparks. Read the paper. Rarely is there any horrific crime in SV. And when there is, it is usually hipanic on hispanic.

The hispanic families are largely intact families working hard to make the American dream happen for them. They started out in overcrowded apartments down on Wedekind, or Neil Road etc. Now they have made enough money to get a place of their own, I commend them.

The Whites, not so much, shattered families, meth abuse, domestic abuse, quite the list.

Not a true statement at all.

Yup, women in Sun Valley have cars.

Look, both my wife and I have worked in Sun Valley for years, we have a pretty good handle on the community.
