Default Cost of Electric Pahrump

We will bne retiring and have been to Pahrump looking at land and houses. Since the houses are all electric, we were wondering what the average year around electric bill would be on a 2000 sq ft home. I know there are a lot of variables, but a high and low might help because we will be on a fixed income. Thanks

If you are a frugal sort, you can turn up the ac higher in the summer and lower in the winter to save money. I have a 1600sf 2 story home and the highest electric bill Ive had was around $200. Winter time it's around $50.

The Electric Pahrump...sounds like a dance that one might do when drunk at a wedding reception!

Default Electric Pahrump

Although there is no natural gas for an alternate to electric, propane is available & lots of people use that source.

Generally does not pay here. The reason is that after you have insulated a house for the summer the winters are cheap. The equations you are used to JFK are turned on their head.

We have looked at propane for a pool heater and may yet install. Our dilemna is that the natural gas is within 100 feet. If they come across the intersection we can hook up for free. If we have to run the line it is six or seven thousand dollars.

We may elect to do an electric spa...one of the fibreglass dudes and put three or four grand into a solar for the pool. Been waiting four years for the gas to cross that damn intersection and it has not happened. It will happen I supect immediately after we commit to the electric spa. The Admiral has made it clear this is the last winter without a hot tub.

Tough living this libertine Las Vegas existence.

Default Cable or Dish?

I am also planning to move to Pahrump and I was pleased to see a post on the electricity bill. What about cable and phone services? Do most people use dish satellite? If someone could give a brief run-down on these services that will be much appreciated. Thank so much!

Default Pahrump NV info.

I moved to Pahrump in Sept. & really like it, small enough but with most amenities & an easy drive to Vegas for a change of pace. We have Direct satellite which, along with Dish, seems to be the main TV carrier. If there is cable it is limited to a small area. Phone service is mainly AT&T & they also have the Dish network system with various package deals. Here is a good web site for info.

Default re elec. pahrump

Hi, I have lived in Pahrump since june in a new 2000 sq ft custom. our summer power was 200-250/mo but i keep the air at 71. this is about the same price i was paying in vegas for a 1300 sq ft house that was built in 1993 (that used gas for hot water and stove). My brother has the same model 2000 sq ft house in pahrump and i think his winter bill was aroung 200.
