I am planning to move to the Las Vegas Area in a few months. I am curious about registering my cars. I have 1 car that Is already registered in FL, and one car that is not registered yet.

What is the process to get 1 or both registered in Nevada, and how much will it cost me?

This should get you started:

Nevada DMV New Resident Guide

You can get a rough idea how much it will cost here:

Having recently moved from Ohio with a truck and two motorcycles.. It's fairly easy.

I would recommend getting your vehicle that doesn't have registration registered in your current state. Nevada (and many other states) get bent outta shape when vehicles aren't continuously registered and if your purchased it more than 30 days prior to registering you may be hit with penalties.

My family who lives in Las Vegas, tried to tell me it was going to cost over $1000 EACH to have a car registered in Nevada for the first time.

Yet the link you provided shows it is only going to be around $100.

Which do I believe??? LOL...

It should be around $100 per vehicle. You will have to have them smogged checked in Vegas. Ugh!

You'll need a VIN inspection, too.

Registration fees are tied to the original MSRP of the vehicle and its age. Nobody can tell you how much it will be without knowing AT LEAST the year, make and model. One of my cars cost around $80/year, with personalized plates. Another is nearly $600/year. It all depends on the type of car and how old it is. The DMV has a tool on their website to estimate registration fees - best thing to do is plug in the VIN on that page.

It's pretty painless overall, though, except for the cost. Nevada doesn't have income tax, so they make up for it in other ways. I don't mind the trade-off, though. Just make sure that you've reviewed the new resident guide and go to the DMV with all the required documentation, and you'll be good to go.

My 1955 Willys CJ5 was under $100, but my 2004 Corvette was about $250. I waited a couple months between each, so I don't get hit ever year with both at once.

I've heard of brand new Corvettes costing as much as $1500 to register. Zat true?

Our 2011 SUV was $562. Shudda stuck with my little old Saturn.

Our California renewal was about $175, so we were kinda floored when something in Nevada cost more. Our insurance went up too on the Corvette.
I really don't know the answer to your question, but it will be something I will check into before I order a new truck. With the Vin they knew exactly what the sticker price was.

Any new 2013 car that has an MSRP of $85,000 will have a registration cost of around $1,500 so I suppose those 427 Corvettes could be just about that much to register in Clark County.
