I need some help please? I've got to tow a small car to Arizona. Should I take 80 East, Alt 95 to 95, or is they a straighter just as fast way? Looks on the map like I could go 395 South to Hwy 6 and cut over, but we all know 395 is a bit twisty. Just wondering if maybe there's another way.

And you Vegas people! Can someone briefly describe what lanes I should be in when I go from 95 onto 93 please. It's been 12 years since I've made this trip, and I wasn't towing, so I don't want to irritate the natives.

Where are you going in Arizona? If the Phoenix metro area, I might be tempted to take 395 all the way to the San Bernardino area and use I-10. It's a bit longer but you'll avoid all the traffic going through Vegas (however, not to say that the traffic around San Bernardino will be much better).

95 onto 93? ...at the spaghetti bowl? If you are going eastbound on 95, wouldn't you just be going straight through the spaghetti bowl? If so, I believe you'd want to stay in the second lane from the right as there will be an "only" lane to northbound I-15 just before the interchange. Pictured here on google maps: click

However, after that exit ramp, the second to the right lane will merge over to the next left lane so I guess you could be in the third lane over approaching the interchange. I'll let the local comment as I just go through there occasionally and not on a daily basis.

It is an easy tow, I have done it. Reno to Fernley to Hawthorne to Beatty, on 95 through Vegas on the Freeway, cross the new bridge at Hoover on 93, through Kingman East on I 40 to Flagstaff, south on I 17 to Phoenix, you can take 93 from Kingman to Phoenix, a great drive in a good handling car, not so much fun towing.

We've made the decision to leave today before the weather hits us, and only go as far as Amargosa Valley, and the rest until tomorrow to go the rest of the way to Surprise. I may regret it, but I will take 93 all the way. My parents place isn't far off the road. I haven't driven it since 1984 (the AZ part), but I know my dad tows down through there.
Anyway, thank you guys for the heads up!

It is a scenic drive, stop in Wickenburg and poke around, a slice of the old west. What got to me when I did the drive in a car, wasn't the twisties, that was fine, but the endless stop and go suburbs of Phoenix. I could not live like that.

I figure he meant Beatty, Pahrump is a bit out of the way for a drive to Phoenix.

i think it's a wash...less traffic thru pahrump, rv/tow vehicle friendlier places, etc plus you get to bypass 95% of the vegas traffic.

either way, safe travels!

Turns out I had to take 337 towards Death Valley 16 miles. Nice room with a fire. I'm sure glad I stopped, not as young as I used to be.

373? Down toward DV Junction? Once long time ago I stopped in Beatty with my Jeep, and saw the Big Dunes early the next morning, I thought I would take a look, I drove up and across a couple then hit a dust pillow and sunk the Jeep to the frame. Not so bad, except I was heading to Las Vegas Airport to catch a flight out of town.

I hustled down to a camp, got the fellows there to drive up in their Jeep and pull me out, and I made the plane.
