Purchased a new RV and they put down the MSRP for the model I purchased, not the base model which is the valuation used for determining the government services tax. The Nevada Revised Statutes specifically call for using the MSRP of the base model of the vehicle. See NRS: CHAPTER 371 - GOVERNMENTAL SERVICES TAX

From NRS 371.050.1 (emphasis mine)

Quote:
1. Except as otherwise provided in subsections 3 and 4, valuation of vehicles must be determined by the Department upon the basis of 35 percent of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price in Nevada excluding options and extras, as of the time the particular make and model for that year is first offered for sale in Nevada.
I went back and forth with a "DMV Technician II" from "Central Services Division", she was woefully uninformed. I was amazed when I pointed her to the law that she actually came back and admitted I was correct and the MSRP on the dealer report of sale should be the base model without options.

If the dealer overstates that value you may be paying more for registration every year.. Nobody at the dealers or DMV will correct this for you, it's not in their interests.. so it's up to you.

Thanks for posting up. I was kind of shocked when I registered my 8 year old Corvette, and it was $100 more than California. My 1955 Jeep was $20 less. Corvette did drop after my first year here, and will hopefully continue.
Thanks for the break down though!
