I don't live in Fallon but when I was there earlier this year, I had an excellent signal with both my Sprint voice signal and I also have a Sprint data card and had a broadband signal coverage in most of the area. Both were native signals. I was very impressed.

Go to cell service providers (Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T etc.) websites and look on their "coverage map" section and zoom in on the Fallon, Nevada area. Each area is color coded meaning signal strength.

Verizon is terrible in Fallon. You have to go up passed Fernley to update or receive picture messages. My daughter switched to T-Mobile and it works fine. I'd switch if I wasn't in a contract with Verizon.

The good news is Verizon has bought Alltel, so Verizon will be taking over the Alltel towers in Nevada with the exception of White Pine, Lincoln, and Elko counties (being divested as part of the merger), and Washoe and Clark counties (Alltel never had licenses in those counties).

Also, for some unbiased reviews, check out Mountain Wireless. They arnt connected to any company, though they do sell ads to wireless companies. Very objective opinions.

The Verizon coverage in Fallon is titled "Extended Enhanced" which does not include Pic/Video messaging on any "America's Choice" plan, but it does on any "Nationwide" plan. (Don't let the name, "Nationwide", throw you. Both plans provide national coverage.) The America's Choice plans are older and the Nationwide plans are newer. Most of the more populated places are covered by "Enhanced" service which is included in both plans.

You need to switch to a "Nationwide" plan, which Verizon allows under your current contract, provided that it costs the same or more. Your old contract end date will still apply.
