Let's say a political leader in Nevada headed a movement to outlaw casino gambling and prostitution in the state. Are there many people in Nevada who would support this? Would this person end up on a mob hit list?

A bit dated you are, the mob is long gone, in their place are mega corporations accountants. Prostitution supports the economies of the rural counties. WP, gave up on California? Remember, the prostitutes will take just about anyone, keep that in mind if you ever visit Nevada.

There was a minister that came to Las Vegas to outlaw gambling one time and he was laughed out of town. Why would anyone want to do that? People have had their vices since Adam and Eve. They exist in every community in the world. Why not regulate and tax it to keep it safe? Or do you prefer all the illegal prostitution and gambling that goes on where you come from? And it doesn't matter where you come from - it's there. You can't be that naive.

I do not participate in either activity, but feel it should continue. This is a state known to profit from sin. Gambling alone supports huge tax revenue. I knew a sprinkler fitter years ago who's wife left him after 30 years or so. He told me he went to Nevada once a month to get laid. He said it was way cheaper than getting married again. Kind of a funny example, but it has its place in our society.

If it was up to me, which I realize its not, I'd outlaw both those vices. The locals **** their paychecks away on gambling, and the cat houses are just plain nasty, and the girls, well I don't care how much lipstick you slap on a pig, its still a pig.

Obviously Las Vegas would die without gambling. It is the lifeblood of the city and everything else (all trades, all hotels, hospitals, stores, restaurants) are dependant on a thriving gambling revenue. I like it just the way it is (and I'm not a big gambler).

The state would not exist and would only need a night watchman without gambling. It doesn't just support Las Vegas, Las Vegas supports the state. And in the cow counties they not only need the taxes paid by brothels, but have you ever seen how far out in the middle of nowhere some of those cowboys live - without many wimmin around?

Let me tell you something. As a state, Nevada shuts out millions of decent Americans who don't want to raise their families in Pottersville. Eliminate the culture of gambling and whoremongering (real or perceived), continue the state's low tax and pro-business economic policies, and Nevada would be a lifeboat for tens of thousands of California refugees.

Here's an idea: contain the casinos and brothels to Las Vegas. Watch the rest of the state boom.
