Hi,

I received a speeding ticket on my drive from Grand Canyon to Las vegas. I was doing 85mph on a 65mph road. I believe I said I am sorry for over speeding which means I admitted the guilt. The officer gave me a ticket which requires me to pay $89. This is my first speeding ticket and I had received a warning for speeding previously.

I heard that taking a defensive driving course online will help eliminate the points off my driving record. Below are few questions I have:

1. I stay in Texas and my driving license was issued in Texas. I was in vegas for a vacation and I got the ticket there. Should I be taking a defensive driving course by selecting an Online course offered for Nevada or by Texas?

2. If I take the DD course for Nevada and complete it, would it help remove the points off my record? If yes, will it also enable to reduce my insurance rate for completing the DD?

3. Does completing a DD course online mean I need not pay the $89 on the ticket?

I received this ticket on May 27, 2013. I am looking for answers soon and want to do everything to take the points off my license and I don't mind paying the ticket ($89) and completing the Online course (either Texas or Nevada).

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you call the County you got the ticket from and they can answer all of your questions clearly. PS. It's Located On your ticket.

All but the last 30 miles of that trip is in Arizona. Are you sure you sure you were in Nevada when you got the ticket?

You need to take the course in the state you got the ticket in, (you can do it online) whichever that was. Usually, the school will cost you about the same as the ticket, sometimes a bit more, but you will avoid the points on your license if you follow the instructions from the court and pass the class.

Pay the $89 and take the points. The DD course isn't worth it.

may i suggest that you slow down......... you were warned before as you state and admitted to speeding this time. You seem to be in a rush........may want to give yourself some extra driving time . Next time you may end up in worse a accident and never be able to drive again or worse kill someone and live a life of hell for doing so.

Maybe you should check your license record in TX. The points may not have even made it there.
