Medicare & Availability of HMO
I've noticed a lot of threads from people asking about the best places to live in Nevada. Don't move out of Washoe County if you want good Medicare Advantage Plan. Fernley is closer to Reno than it is to Carson City or Yerington, but the Washoe Plans won't cover you in Lyon County which is where Fernley is and it's just across the county line. The best Doctor's won't accept the "fee for Service" or PPO plans, because Senior Care Plus in Reno (Washoe County) pays them better w/M'Care than anyone else. If you don't mind going to Doctor's in the Northern Nevada Hospital or St. Mary's Hospital Network, then you should be okay, but if you love your Renown Regional Medical Center Doctor's, they just won't accept these rural plan offerings. I live in Fernley and am finding out that Medicare and Private Insurance don't give a crap about covering us.
