I am curious. DO fast department stores, food chains and starbuck offer free wifi there?
If they do, how do thay get their Internet? Pull a fiber from LV?
Can we piggyback on that fiber?
If one lives near the stores, can one ride on a FAST wifi booster?
Park one's RV or van there and get free FAST wifi for couple hours per day?

we don't have department stores in pahrump, the only "chain" restaurant we have is denny's who does have wifi. i'm not including our fast food places as chain restaurants, but some of them do offer wifi. our 3 hotels offer it, as do some of the campgrounds too.

majority of our connections use an at&t backbone to vegas. that is changing tho. wave direct has their own fiber lines & there's been an on-again-off-again project backed by the state to get other options out here to us.

I can tell you that NewWave SUCKS...
ZERO POINT three six was my last speed test.. yes 0.36 and my pings were 962... upload speed 0.07 (that is not a typo) HELP! I need to change carriers and I don't live in Mountain Falls.. if I did. I would get AT&T, but they are not available in my area! ANY SUGGESTIONS?

welcome to the same hell the rest of us are in - little to no options for high speed internet. as of right now, these are your options:

wavedirect, aka digis
cma, aka new wave (only available in some areas)
at&t (only available in some areas)
satellite (pricey)
a new player out here, i've seen their vans but have no idea how reliable/pricey they are Las Vegas Web Hosting ISP and Web Design - Wireless High speed Internet WISP

We use Digis and we live up off Winery Road. Our service is pretty good up here. When we lived in Artesia we had all kinds of issues with our service. I think the tower our old house used had problems. Whatever tower we are using now seems to be a lot better. We can't get AT&T internet here either.

So does anyone use LV.net for their internet? Speeds seem ok, no data cap, and very low latency...at least that is the sales pitch. We are new to the Pahrump area and are trying to decide on our service provider.....

Was gogle-ing internet and found this site.

For specific address, try this link
Search Results: Broadband Providers for this Area - - National Broadband Map - National Broadband Map

For coverage maps
Broadband Map - Technology - National Broadband Map
Zoom in to Pahrump area.
Choose Asymmetric Xdsl(ADSL) and show the coverage area. I would guess this is the [PLOT]copper phone line.

Un-Choose Asymmetric Xdsl(ADSL) and choose Cable Modem-Other.
I would guess this is Cable TV&Internet.

Default Satisfied with SuddenLink

To anyone interested,

I recently moved into Mountain Falls and had SuddenLink installed as an internet provider. So far the best they offer is 6mb/download. However, this has worked well for all my applications such as Face Time, Apple TV streaming, NetFlicks, Skype, etc... I hope this helps.
