Interesting - I posted this in the Utah section, as that is the side of town where my wife has gone, but now I find it's been shunted to Nevada... maybe a sign of things to come?

Yes! Wendover is more of a truck stop in the desert on a highway with motels, gas stations and restaurants (mostly fast food). There are casinos on the Nevada side of town which brings in a lot of tourists from Utah and elsewhere. Outside of that, there's not much there and not much to do. The nearest big city is Salt Lake City about 2 hours away. The Bonneville Salt Flats to the east has its own beauty.

I seriously doubt if you could stand the isolation it even short term. I know I couldn't and I've been in Nevada most of my life.

There are several daily shuttles that run from the casinos to SLC. Maybe see if they will let you hitch a ride over on the empty bus?

I don't know if anyone else is reading this thread, but it looks like there are 2 daily Greyhound buses between Wendover and Salt Lake City, although not at very convenient times!
