Best cell phone service in South Lake Tahoe City (buying, area)

Hey, I am coming over to work at Heavenly on the 9th of December and am thinking of buying a cellphone in San Francisco when I land, I was just wondering if anybody knows what the best cell phone service/coverage is?

I don't know about the "best" coverage but just wanted to report that I had an excellent Sprint signal around the southern area of the lake. I even had Sprint high-speed data coverage up at Heavenly.

I'm thinking that all the carriers have good coverage in the area. With all the roaming agreements in effect these days, I'm not sure if it's that important what carrier you sign up with. Pick the one with the best plan that suit you. I think that would also apply if you're going with a pre-paid plan.
