I'm looking for an inexpensive area to live in Nevada. I currently make around $500 a month, I hope to make more soon. I work from home, so I can live anywhere there is internet access. I'd like to stay relatively close to Las Vegas, so I can visit once a week. Any suggestions?

Figuring 33% of your income for housing, you can afford $165/mo for rent. I can't imagine you're going to find anything for that. I would recommend not moving from where you are, as, since you're posting on a computer, you're obviously in a place you can afford.

Searchlight, Nevada - not far from Vegas. Travel Nevada

But I don't think you can live anywhere on $500/month.

You can't even find a room to rent for that . Maybe you can find someone looking for someone to do some odd jobs around their house in exchange for free rent.

Wouldn't $500 a month qualify someone for public assistance? That's only $6000 a year.
