Bridgett is on a distinguished road
I drove from Vegas to Pahrump every day for four years. The good part was that I had the sun to my back, both ways, rather then in my eyes. The bad part was the crazy drivers. During the winter months they can get snow on Spring Mountain which is the highest point you drive on your way to Pahrump. It deosn't take much for them to close this road (160) and the only other way is a 90 minute detour bringing you into north Vegas. Coming from the midwest I knew how to drive in snow but the reason they closed the road is that the locals don't know how to drive in these conditions. You often see trucks flipped on their sides because they travel at high speeds and if they hit a patch of ice or snow they don't know what to do. To live or work in NV you have to be a "maverick" at heart. I spent the first three years crying and yelling at my husband for bringing me there. The final year I just laughed and prayed for the day I could leave. Heaven help you if you need medical services. Even in Vegas the hospitals are scarey. When the former mayor of Vegas had cancer she went to CA; so did Roy Horn.

First and foremost, Bridgett is almost totally right.

I continue to drive to Pahrump each day from Henderson and today I stayed home because Spring Mountain was a snow disaster due to the morons who don't know how to drive on ice and snow.

The one issue I will argue is Roy Horn being treated in LA. Yes, he eventually went there but not before one of the top cerebrovascular surgeons in the country took care of him. I know, I scrubbed with him on the case and his name is Dr. Derek Duke. Vegas has some quality medical professionals despite what everyone believes.

And yes, Pahrump creates a vacuum in many areas of medical care because they have attracted a lot of those who can't practice anywhere else. Even the brand new 25 bed hospital is a nightmare because of the staff. Live in Pahrump? Never! Too much drugs and too much control of all aspects of city life by a select few. My current employer is one of them.

How deep do you have to go to get a good and lasting supply of water? What is the average cost for a well? Is ther a city water department?
