I love the awesome views , the casinos , lots of acreage for not alot of money & especially NO STATE AUTO INSPECTIONS. Goodbye disgusting pocono pennsylvania forever. I miss nevada & cant wait to get back. So many trees in the poconos cant even see the beautiful sky. Good thing i didn't change my nevada liscense or plates to PA. See you elko in 1 month.

How about no state income tax. That's good too!
Then, there's also some variety in Nevada. Not all of it is vast open spaces. I happen to like trees and forests, so I settled next to the Sierra Nevada mountains. It doesn't have the bushy forests you found, but it has trees that I like.
So welcome back, but excuse me for now. I need to go out and salt the driveway. There's supposed to be a little snow tonight.

Wide open spaces, empty wild lands, the hand of government lies lightly on the land. Few people. Small Towns and Basque restaurants.

I'm in Elko and an avid mtn biker, road cyclist.. I love the open land, and not so many people... miles and miles of trails. I ride a lot here, but I also do a lot of riding around the Reno area... LOVE it there!

One of the things I had forgotten that I hated about the east coast......I had claustrophobia for 8 years because I could only see about 50 feet.......

What I love about Nevada...is that it's about 2,590 miles away from me. If it wasn't for LV, and I wasn't into gambling...they'd be no need for me to ever visit there. Altho' I did find Reno to be a nice place.
NV is for some, but not for others.

Clearly not for those with unhealthy negative fixations on the state.

Nevada changes you. I think you need to toughen up to live here. The weather, the people, the environment, the lack of somethings, letting go of having a fast paced lifestyle (unless you reside in Reno or Las Vegas), weaning yourself off malls and four star restaurants, learning to keep extra water and blankets in your car, learning local history, realizing that the NHP and local sheriff dept's are merciless and unforgiving, most schools mismanage money, politicians are usually corrupt (more than normal), wildlife usually strays into your backyard, and learning to respect where you are and what type of people you do business with.
I love Nevada because of all the above. Except the bit about schools. Homeschooling begins to look a lot more viable.

Good thoughts. Too bad it is too big to fit onto a T-shirt to sell for a profit. Sounds like you are describing everyplace in Nevada but LV which is a crap hole.
We did travel much of the Northern state purposely avoiding Reno and it is beautiful indeed. Nevada is quite rich in history. There are many little towns you can visit and actually feel like how it might have been in the Cowboy and Indian days. We did every Ghost town we could find. Virginia City was nice and was my favorite but Elko, Battle Mountain and Winnemucca was nice.

Tell me about your visit to Battle Mtn. We purchased 163.28 acres just outside of Battle Mtn on Hwy 8A Marvel Ranch Rd. I did research what I could online about the town, it's emp opp's, ER care, domestic water rights & requirements to build a hm. I would love to hear about your experience.
