Thank you for the compliment.
It is easy to take good photos ... just go to a beautiful place to take them. I also know some good photographers and have shamelessly tried to steal some of their style. Here are some more photos I will share taken on a Sunday drive (3/16/08) just outside of Las Vegas on the Rainbow Gardens Trail on the East side of Sunrise Mountain and the Valley of Fire. A few photos taken in the Gold Butte area between Lake Mead and Arizona.
I seem to like taking photos of rock formations and wild flowers. ![]() The pocket in the rocks was full of water and there are petroglyphs on the rocks above and scattered through out this area. Local Resident ... the kind that makes me nervous.... hence the poor pic quality ![]() |

The Caliente train station is a throwback to when passenger trains were a main travel mode. There has not been a passenger train thru here in decades!
The Caliente hot springs is still closed ![]() ![]() This photo is of Pioche from the old aerial tram that used to haul the ore down off the mountain from the mines to the mill below. There are still ore carts on the tram's cables. It is hard to call Pioche a ghost town anymore.... lots of new houses being built! ![]() Pioneer Wall in Rose Valley .... vintage graffiti The early settlers, people riding stagecoaches and wagons going west carved or painted their names with axle grease on this rock. It is much larger than I can get into one photo. The earliest date I saw was 1872 ... but many have faded or covered up with newer names. ![]() I hope that fire station has something newer in the shed. Both those trucks are 40's vintage! ![]() ![]() |
