And if you want to know what Uber (et al) drivers are thinking, well, they have their own forum site...

Uber Drivers Forum
Interesting link. I tried to use Uber twice and it didn't work out, plus their app doesn't have a tip option from what I understand. I've been using Lyft and like it a lot. Price isn't a concern because it's company money. I like the app, the drivers have been cool as a breeze, and they are there in minutes.

Does that lyft app look like the Uber one? I like that I can open it up and see the little Uber guys driving around.
And +1 on the speediness. Wife and I used it on our 10th anniversary to go paint the town and we were and were very impressed.

I can't speak to the Uber app, but when I use Lyft the app asks me to set my pickup location with " current location " as an option and then asks for destination. Then I can see how long it would take someone to get to me. If I request Lyft, I see the driver and his car, then a little symbol of him on a map driving towards me.

After the ride, the app asks me to rate my driver and offers a tip option.

Oh wow! My wife and I use Uber often for date nights on the strip. Its the only way that both of us can go out drinking. I will have to pay attention to this.

This is huge. Many friends use uber to and from house because theyll be drinking. I also have many friends that drive for uber/lyft. Shocked Nevada is trying to push out these companies

I think the legislators would kick a huge hornets nest if the try this. These services are VERY popular with their customers.

start emailing your congress people.... check out who started this... he has received contributions from the taxi authority.. go figure...

i have no issues with needing a state and county business license ( i have mine)
i have no issues requiring a normal amount of insurance (not the 1.5 million they are pushing for... cabs require 300k.. it would be the highest in the country)
even if uber and lyft TRIPLED their fares it would still be a better deal than a cab

i only do this very part time (15 hours a week.. maybe).. it would kill off my play money (250 a week)

All the Uber and Lyft drivers should find out where the legiscritters pushing this live, drive their cars there at three in the morning, and blow their horns for a half hour. Do this a few nights a week. This legislation will die.
