My husband and I are thinking about moving to mesquite,nv but i wonder if i can take the weather there in the summer. I hear it really gets hot there. We live in slc,ut and when it gets to be around 100 degree's i melt. So let me now how you cope with the heat.

I have relatives that live in Mequite. The heat in the summer is extreme! My relatives there cope by hiding in the house with the ac on and camping in the mountains of UT almost every week in high elevations to get away from it.

Timber, the heat in Mesquite can be quite extreme in the summer. But it's a dry heat! When it gets super hot with a nice dry breeze, it's quite bearable.

The best place is somewhere with really bad schools so the parents will be repelled and enrollment will dwindle, all saving taxes for the childfree.

I never thought in a million years I would say this, but I am kind of liking the desert.

I just bought a house near Laughlin for an investment, the construction was quite good and the prices are rock bottom. We went to see it and I found the desert beautiful in a way I never saw before. I would never go near the casinos....I want to go there so my husband can train for triathalons and we can cycle in the winter. You can get places that back up to state land with beautiful mountain views, put in a lap pool, etc.

It is wonderful to be some place the government is not all over you. (from Hawaii) We drove to Flagstaff and that was cool too.

We moved to Pahrump last Sept. I joined Century 21 & I love it here. Big enough for normal shopping, easy drive to Vegas for the rest. Lots of retirees & snowbirds. Lots of exciting things in the works, Home Depot opens next month, finally getting a movie theater, new casinos, restaurant, & a huge undertaking with a park & reacreation center. It is an exciting time to be in Pahrump but still retain the small town flavor. We finally got a third stop light.
