Does anyone know if the roads to Jarbidge are passable for a regular 2wd car? Anyone ever done that trip in a 2wd car?

We made the trip quite a few years ago in our Subaru Outback but I think a 2WD vehicle would be just fine as long as it's dry ...and you stay on the "main" road. If it's raining really hard, I don't know. It seems as though most every vehicle in town was a pickup, though, as there will be snow in the winter. We came in and went out from the Elko side in the late spring. I'm not sure how the road is on the Idaho side.

Here's some video (not ours) that you can kind of get an idea of the road. It's a LONG drive on a dirt road coming in from the south!

Sure.

Just talked with some friends who did the trip two years ago and they said it was raining lightly (they went in early October) and the road was okay for their Ford Fusion (FWD) but said if it came down any harder, it may have made it a little slippery. They went in from the Elko side and left on the Idaho side. They say the road going to Idaho is a bit better.

They also reiterated to not get tempted to take any of the side roads you see without 4WD and good clearance. We took our Outback on one offshoot we thought looked interesting but turned around as soon as it got a bit rough as we weren't sure if we'd have room to turn around if we went much further as it look as if the road was tailored for an ATV.

I did it once from the Elko side in a 2WD Honda. I had my doubts, but I made it.
