Yes, but this time around you've got Putin! He'd be deliriously happy to help the West Coast unite into a separate country, with whatever military assistance they could ask for. What might he say?

Russia is now doing quite well without all of our former Soviet republics! Poland, one good example!

And, if nothing else, split the country in 2 along the lines of the Mississippi River!

Utah is a great place to live and you do not need to be a Mormon to live there. We only moved away because jobs were hard to find back in 2000. Now when we move back later on, we will be retired.

Clark County and Washoe County are 88.6% of the Nevada population. Both are growning while the rest of Nevada shrinks in population.

Is it really rational to worry about what the rest of NV thinks?

My suggestion is to move the Capital to Clark County. Be good to get those civil servants somewhere near the population they serve.

And note we will continue to have to subsidize the rurals...likely forever.

And I would think we always go with California. While we have strong differences we are basically a distant suburb. So keep CA at arms length...but no further than that.

And losing population year by year.

Wait a few years and it could be transformed into Wyoming.

What will happen now that West Wendover will be cut off from Wendover?

A more rational plan would be moving the capital to Reno, not too far away up the NEW freeway, so as not to centralize everything and create animosity between Northern and Southern Nevadans (or really the Rurals and Renoans vs. the Vegans).

If the border areas join California, the new center of Nevada would be in Elko. It would become the state capital and economic hub of the state.

I would think the capital could well be in NLV...the likely center of population. Certainly up that way.

And Clark County has payback built up for 50 years of getting screwed by upstate. First all the working portions of the state government and then all the successful schools and departments from UNR. And then we can get kind and not demand reparations for the 50 years.

I rather doubt that Elko could carry the state's economy.
